Description
Abalone shell
Beautiful Abalone shell to use as a smudging bowl for your sage smudges stick, palo santo wood or incense. This way you can safely put down the smoldering stick and it also looks beautiful. Can also be used purely for decoration or even as a special ashtray.
Each shell is unique and can therefore differ from the type of shell in the photo. The large shells are all about 18cm wide. The small version is about 12 cm wide. They are therefore ideal to use as a natural smudge bowl.
abalones
Abalone is the collective name for the group of smaller and large sea snails and crustaceans from the Haliotidae family. Besides the native names such as muttonshell (AU), ormer (UK), perlemoen (South Africa) and pāua (New Zealand) are other frequently heard names; auricles and sea ears.
The shell of Abalone has a low, spiral-like structure and is characterized by a number of open pores. The thick inner layer consists of nacre (mother of pearls), the same material that pearls are made of. This gives it a beautiful rainbow-like sparkle. This is why the shell is so popular as a decorative object, jewelry, and as a base for colored mother pearl.
The purchased Abalone shell may differ from the photo as each shell is unique.
