Mescaline

Mescaline is an alkaloid and is known as a recreational drug by the names mescalitomesswizz en cactus. Besides recreational use, mescaline is mainly used by psychonauts for gaining insights and exploration of the mind.

In areas now belonging to Mexico and the United States, this substance has been known for a long time. There is evidence of pre-Columbian use and even well into prehistoric times, according to the discovery by archaeologists of dried peyote buds preserved by humans, radiocarbon dated 3780-3660 BC. [1] It was mainly used in shamanic rituals.

The effect of mescaline would be described by users as an inner journey through the mind, where both the negative and positive sides of the mind can be explored from a different perspective. Some users would see everything surrounded by some sort of cartoonish light.

It is known that the lead singer of The Doors, Jim Morrison, regularly experimented with mescaline. This is also shown in the movie of the same name The Doors from 1991. The band name is derived from the book Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley. In the book, Huxley describes his experiences with the use of mescaline.
