Theobroma Cocoa
Cocoa (Theobroma cacao), also called “Food of the Gods”, has its origins in ancient South American cultures. The Mayans and Aztecs considered cocoa sacred and even used cocoa beans as currency. In the 17th century, the Spanish brought cocoa to Europe, where it quickly found its way to the rest of the world.
Our cacao paste from the Peruvian Amazon is made from the finest indigenous Criollo beans, certified organic and carefully cold processed into raw food quality. No hybrid plants are used. This cacao is grown by small farmers who practice sustainable farming methods, protecting the rainforest and the environment. How to use Raw Cacao Paste:
1. Take small pieces to make it easier to dissolve and mix into a heart-warming drink.
2. Mix with hot water or plant milk, approximately 125ml per drink. A temperature of 70°C is warm enough to melt the cacao and is a comfortable temperature to drink.
3. Blend until frothy with bubbles to enhance the delicious aroma. You can use a frother, blender or shaker.
4. Use the heart as a base for a Cocoa Elixir
Effects
These healthy effects of cocoa are mainly present in pure (raw) cocoa. Various processing techniques such as using alkaline substances to soften the cocoa and give it a dark color (Dutch processing), pressing cocoa (to separate butter and powder) or roasting at high temperatures destroy beneficial compounds that make cocoa so healthy. That is why we prefer to process cocoa as little as possible, learning from traditional use, which is healthier and has a stronger effect.
