Description
Comes from the relatively new perennial ornamental plant in the Netherlands. Also called gray catnip in Dutch.
To be used as a relaxation agent with a light high that stimulates the imagination. In addition, it has numerous positive effects such as:
- Against the flu and cold
- Drifting away from fever
- Helps against diarrhea
- Antispasmodic (good against poor digestion)
USAGE
Make (a maximum of) 3 a cup of tea containing 2 teaspoons of dried herb once a day and let this infuse for a few minutes. Or use approximately 10 grams on an 15 liter of water.
CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
The composition of catmint is as follows:
- Volatile oil, carvacrol, citronellal, nerol, geraniol, pulegone, thymol and nepetalic acid
- Tannic acid
- Iridoids, in which epideoxyloganic acid and y-deoxyloganic acid.
Catmint's chemical structure is similar to that of valepotriates and is known from the herb valerian. It ensures that the central nervous system is slightly suppressed, but it can also be experienced as stimulating.
