A smudge stick is a bundle or braid of herbs bound together. For example sage, lavender or sweet grass. This has been ritually used as a sacred medicine for centuries by the indigenous people of North America and Canada. With the smoke that is released after burning the smudge, disease and negative energy are counteracted. Burning a smudge stick is called smudging.
